Why or why not? I definitely think that military leaders can exhibit many of the same qualities as any organization leader! Before I start my response, I may say that it is possible that I am being bias because I have family in the military and good friends. However, with that being said, I think that the amount of training that these men are put through, and like the passage stated, they are put into life or death situations, it will be easy to sort out the good leaders and the not so good leaders. I think though that in the military, structure is very important as well as chain of command, so I think you would see a lot of task structure, which is defined as the degree of which different jobs and their duties are procedurized Robins pg Therefore, I think that military leaders can easily relate to an organizational leader, but that an organizational leader would take more training to lead in the military.

There are many shared traits between military leaders and private sector leaders. Some of the same qualities in both are that they need to instill confidence in their subordinates, that they have vision and foresight to steer the direction of the company. The transition should be rather fluid as we should have a strong nation of leaders no matter what they are doing. Personal experience has shown me that veterans have been some of the hardest working and most loyal workers almost to a fault. There is no room for failure in their previous line of work so they exhibit this attitude in their future endeavors.
